HAINAN SPEAKING CLASS
Introduction
Thank you for joining the HAINAN Speaking Class. The objective of these sessions is to help participants practice speaking Hainan dialect / language.
Since everyone has different levels and experiences with the Hainan dialect, this class will lean towards a very basic level.
Learning Tips for beginners
Associate the words with sounds and focus on remembering.
Don’t stress about getting the accurate tones and pronunciation. Focus on recalling the words and phrases first.
DO NOT rely on the romanized hainanese. They are guardrails, not life support.
Notes from the class conductors
I am Wann, conducting the class with my mother Mdm Nyam. I don’t identify myself as a teacher because I am still very much a beginner. I have experience conducting language classes, but my mom does not, so we are conducting this Hainan speaking class together.
This is the very first Hainan speaking class so I apologize in advance for any discomfort and hope you find your time well spent at the end of the session.
